Smart Fortress 2012 Virus

One thing I know well is the Smart Fortress 2012 interface. This virus threat is nothing new. This particular strain is new but it’s the same basic malware client just under a different name.

Perhaps the sadest part is the people who make these clients continue to do so with little punishment. Smart Fortress 2012 removal is not as hard as one may think. Great instructions can be found on http://www.removevirus.org/smart-fortress-2012. The most frustrating thing this virus does is block other program like AV clients from running. The programs are all blocked by the virus from starting up. This can make the task a little hard for many. You will most likely not be able to install antivirus software on the computer to help you remove the threat either.

Some Easy Things You can Try to remove Smart Fortress 2012

Windows has a System Restore for a reason, this is the perfect time to use it. This is basically taking your computer back in time to when you were not infected with the virus. From there you can run a full virus scan to ensure everything was removed.

Another option is to boot into safe mode with networking and install a antivirus client and run the scan. This tends to work well for many people out there.

If you are going to manually remove this virus you have to first stop the program from running. A great way to manually remove this threat is to kill the proccess that is causing this malware to run and then delete it. I personally find this rather easy but for those with no virus removal experience it can be a challenge.

This virus hides in the C:ProgramData\ folder. At this point you should be able to view the files and folders by the date they were installed. Show the most current insalled files first. Then compare the file dates to when you got infected. You will most likely see a folder on the exact date of the infection that will be named something weird like 4sfsf452. The file in question will not make any sense at all and be a jumble of letters and numbers. That file will be the one or will contain the file you need to stop. Re-name the folder and files. From there you should be able to re-boot your computer and then delete the file.
